Hey,
Welcome back to the Flashback Series part 2.
Once myself and Grace worked out some songs after what seemed like ages since we have been onstage or into a studio after the break of our last band.
We knew it was about time we headed down to Robannas
Grace also plays drums, so we decided that we would get back into the practice studio and give the new songs a good run through at volume.
To be fair Grace is a good drummer and when she twiddles the sticks and is smiling (I’m sure there is a more technical term of twiddle but it’ll do for now) it reminds me of a very good friend of mine, Rob Chapman who used to drum in a old band i was in a few years back.
He would be smiling constantly behind the kit and every time I looked over at him. I couldn’t help but smile back, it’s infectious and was great fun and I’m not sure if it was just because we hadn’t been in the studio for a while, or weather my new best friend is now behind the drum kit smiling, but this was just the same and it felt pretty damn cool.
Anyway, back to the story.
So, to be back in the studio with me on guitar and vocals and Grace on drums, it was a absolute blast to be back making some noise.
But we knew we needed to look for other members.
Grace knew Jake from a previous band and were great friends. She told me he is a super chilled guy and cracking guitar player. So a date was set, and we arranged a get together.
I seen in a recent interview that we did with Black Phoenix Rising, Jake remembers the number of the room for his audition which was room 28.
I couldn’t remember that, but I do remember meeting him for the first time.
He has this chilled manner but is also a straight talker, I really like that about him, there is no undercurrent. He is so easy to get on with. Being that Grace and Jake knew one another from before, the jokes and fun atmosphere was from the get go and so it was very easy for him to settle in to the band.
He picked up the songs very quickly and wrote and enhanced most of the bass lines to make them his own. He really is a great guitarist and he brings a solid backbone of technical bass lines to our sound.
I guess that’s about it for Jake. I want to say a bunch more, but really its that simple. A great guy a fantastic guitarist and a pleasure to practice, record and play alongside on stage.
We continued to practice with Grace still on drums, but we needed her back on Lead guitar, so next up was to try and find a drummer. To be continued…
Till next time,
Keep it Wild,
KT x
