Wild Strays: New & Improved
This weeks news is all about our shiny new look!
Yup, in case you haven't noticed, The Wild Strays brand has evolved! It only took 2+ years... This issue is mainly to break down some of the changes and the reasoning behind them; helping assure long term fans that we aren't suddenly going in a weird direction. The fact is, we've evolved to more effectively showcase not only the type of music we play but also the type of people we are. More on that in a sec but first...
Those that have followed us for a while will know that this blog often gets neglected. This is mainly due to a focus on more dynamic social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc) and unfortunately, traffic on this site doesn't warrant the additional workload sometimes. That said, we will continue to update the blog where possible; call it a new years resolution if you will but one we actually want to keep!
Turn and Face The Strange...
So the obvious reason for the re-brand (for want of a better word) is because there's usually a naturally evolution in design of long term ventures. The original artwork was designed over 2 years ago now and well, it was starting to feel a little... dated? Admittedly we (meaning me, Grace, Art Director & Web Blog Rambler) felt the old designs were a little immature; though that may be just me growing as an artist.
It's not all different, the eyes of Bruce continue to stare intently towards fans and foes alike. Let's just say he has better vision this year, like... 2020 vision? I know right, a bad pun indeed but here's an interesting fact: KT and Grace's first work together in a studio was recording a song called 2020!
So the idea with the eyes was to make them more defined and arguably, more simple. This not only works with the clearer vision theme but also has a lot of benefits for creating promotional materials and merchandise. We also like to think they look a little more modern!
It's A Revolution, The Time Will Come...
Now we aren't saying our new artwork is revolutionary but it definitely looks a bit more 21st Century! A lot of the inspiration came from the desire to be somewhat 'future-proof'; something that will last a good few years and continue to represent our sound & work ethic really well. That sound of course being our self-defined Punk & Rock & Metal & Stuff!
It is also a lot more representative of our personalities. We are all avid gamers, tea lovers, movie goers, animal adorers and just all round geeks; and this year we are going to be broadcasting that a lot more with planned live streams as groups and individuals. We felt that the new themes were a lot more reflective of this.
Okay, so I'm going to end this blog here... It may seem lazy but this is actually the abridged version. I actually wrote a much longer version of this and when I hit publish, it went off the page and I lost most of the work. Lesson here being: Start writing blogs else where and preferably not at 8am in the morning, drained from an all night design sesh...
Anyways, if you want to know more, let us know in the comments and we'll fill you in! Hopefully next weeks issue will be less problematic!
Until then...
Keep it Wild, Strays!
